The Santa Barbara Soccer Club’s Girls U-14 White team followed up its SBSC Summer Cup Championship with another tournament crown this past weekend, winning the Simi Valley Eclipse Labor Day Invitational.
The team finished second in pool play and advanced with a total of four points after a 1-1 tie with the Eagles and a 0-2 loss to the host team, Eclipse. The semi-final match against LA Rampage (silver elite) was fast-paced & physical. The score was 0-0 after 60 minutes of play, setting up a shoot-out to decide who would move on to the finals. The SBSC squad out-shot their opponent 4-3 in PK’s to advance to the Championship game, a rematch with the Eclipse.
The girls came out determined to improve upon their earlier loss to the Eclipse, another silver elite team. After battling their opponents and the heat for regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods, the 0-0 tie would be once again decided by PK’s. Goalkeeper, Hannah Harrah, was stellar in the goal box, stopping three of the four shots taken, securing the Championship for the girls.
Also contributing to the title were Jamie Benedetto, Avery Blackman, Hannah Brisby, Ashley Carney, Annie deBruynKops, Shelby Hoffman, Emma Jones, Kayla Klopstein, Annelise Morando, Leah Parlato, Tiffany Siegel, Pauline Simes, Mari Solis, Emma Trumbull, and Ashlen Weddington. The team is coached by Marco Medina.
