Haley True led a bevy of low-scoring Dons at River Ridge Golf Course on Wednesday, earning medalist honors for a Santa Barbara girls golf team that bested Ventura, Pacifica and Channel Islands on the day with a late-season form 214.
“It was a good start to the season,” understated Santa Barbara head coach Ryan Throop, who pointed out that it was the lowest round his Dons have ever recorded.
True’s 40 was closely followed by teammates Lexi Ortega (42), Kylie Wagner (43), Olivia Fanaro (44) and Saralisa (45).
Ventura was next best, but still way off at 280. Pacifica, 288, and Channel Islands, 326, trailed even further.
Santa Barbara plays in another multi-team match on Friday against Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park.
