Elicity Fabing scored a header in the 19th minute on a hot Friday afternoon at La Playa Stadium and Danielle Jones added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute as SBCC blanked Taft 2-0 in its final nonconference women’s soccer match.
The Vaqueros improved to 5-1-3 with goalie Meghan Maiwald and the defense posting their sixth shutout in nine games. SBCC has outscored its opponents 19-3 this year.

Alyson Johnson assisted on Fabing’s third goal, which came from 15 yards out, while Jamie Kucharski set up the score by Jones.
“I had to get ahead of the defender, it was a good cross by Aly,” said Fabing, a freshman midfielder from Lompoc High. “Our passing was better in the second half.”
Elena Drake of Taft received a red card in the 50th minute, forcing the Cougars to play a man down the rest of the way.
“It was a workmanlike performance,” said SBCC coach John Sisterson. “We knew it would be a tough game. It’s nice to have a win like this going into conference.”
The Vaqueros open WSC play against Hancock on Tuesday at La Playa, starting at 7:30 p.m. SBCC is 17-2-6 in its last 25 home games.
