Alexandria Peretiako medaled for San Marcos on Monday, taking the Royals as close as they could have gotten to their first win of the season at Chalk Mountain Golf Course in Atascadero.
At the end of the day, San Marcos and Atascadero both carded 267s. The tiebreaker is decided by each team’s sixth golfer, of which the Royals don’t have.
Peretiako’s score (44) was impressive in that none of the San Marcos players had ever played at Chalk Mountain.
“This was a solid coaching moment,” explained Royals coach Shawn Ricci. “Every stroke in golf counts – from the first drive to the last putt. Not only that, but all players from our number 1 to our number 5, or in this case six, are equally important.”
San Marcos heads north again on Tuesday for a match at Cypress Ridge against Arroyo Grande.
