The San Marcos girls volleyball team swept its opener 26-24, 25-15, 25-22 on Friday night, in the process sending Carpinteria to its second straight crosstown setback to start the season.
“They looked good,” said new co-head coach Courtney Preston. “If we keep passing well and keep up our defense we should be in good shape.”
Emma Campbell tallied 13 digs and middle Mallory Zaunius recorded five aces.
“Sam Flattery’s passing really helped us win those second and third games,” Preston added.
Carpinteria libero Yadira Saldana had a team-high 13 digs and Megan McMahon added six digs and four kills.
The Warriors (0-2) are in action for the third straight day on Saturday at the Laguna Blanca Tournament, where they’ll get a rematch from Thursday’s season-opening loss to the host Owls.
San Marcos travels to Hart on Tuesday for another non-league test.
