The San Marcos girls tennis team picked up its first Channel League victory of the season on Thursday, sweeping all nine doubles sets for the second day in a row on its way to a 16-2 decision over Buena.
The Royals’ top-3 singles players did their part as well, as Caitlin Mannix, Kiki Katsev and Chloe Maassen went 7-0 on the day.
Christine Pearson and Amy Ransohoff got in a full day’s work, sweeping their three sets. The No. 1 doubles team of Amy Kinsella and Shelby Zylstra won their one set before giving way to Nicolette Leslie and Melaina St. John, who didn’t miss a beat by winning two set of their own.
San Marcos improves to 4-3, 1-1 in league, and next plays at Cate on Sept. 30.
