Royals semifinal bid ripped up in very end

Travis Frohlich’s tie-breaking goal with just under a minute to play was starting to look as though it would stand up for the San Marcis water polo team in its quarterfinal match at the Riverside Invitational Tournament on Friday.

The Royals still have two matches to go at the tournament, with the opportunity to finish as high as fifth in their bracket.

Travis Johnson tallied a team-high four goals for San Marcos and Frohlich, who had eight goals in two wins on Thursday, scored twice more.  Johnson and Frohlich have both scored 10 goals so far in the tournament.

Chris Bebb stopped 11 shots in goal for San Marcos, a day after recording 16 blocks in two matches.

San Marcos falls to 5-5 with the loss.
