Royals romp to rout of Warriors

San Marcos’ Travis Frohlich tallied five goals for the second day in a row, leading to better things this time as the Royals boys water polo team dominated the visiting Carpinteria Warriors 19-2 on Wednesday.

San Marcos (3-4) rebounded from a tight 10-8 loss to Oxnard on Tuesday. It was the season opener for the Warriors, who were outmatched by the more physical and more experienced Royals.

Frohlich, a junior who transfered from Santa Ynez High this year, scored at will, collecting all of his five goals in the first half. Tyler Lisea added four goals for San Marcos, also all in the first half.

The Royals are traveling to the Riverside Poly Tournament this weekend while the Warriors are working towards their league opener on Sept. 30.
