Royals’ doubles loots Pirates, 14-4

Santa Ynez couldn’t match up with San Marcos’ doubles on Wednesday, as the Royals swept all nine doubles sets to record a 13-5 non-league victory over the Pirates.

Veteran combos Amy Kinsella/Shelby Zylstra and Christine Pearson/Amy Ransohoff are the backbone of the Royals, and each team went 3-0.  No. 1s Kinsella and Zylstra, both seniors, dropped just two games all day.

“It’s almost like we have two No. 1s,” said San Marcos head coach Megan Cotich, certainly not complaining.

Caitlin Mannix won two sets at No. 1 singles, but couldn’t top the Pirates’ Emily Ineman, who was the only singles player on either team to win three sets.

San Marcos plays for the third time in three days on Thursday against Buena.
