Sophomore Marguerite Mannix and the Cate girls tennis team turned up the heat late on Wednesday, turning a 3-3 deadlock into a 14-4 rout at Villanova.
Mannix swept her singles sets as did the doubles team of Lela Puckett and Nikita Kokal for the Rams, who picked up their first win of the season and are now 1-2.
Junior Sarah Cohen and freshman Maddison Snider combined to secure five more sets for Cate in singles.
Next up for Cate is a non-league Saturday match against last year’s Channel League runner-up Dos Pueblos.
