The Cate girls volleyball team was swept in only its second full-length match of the season, falling 25-20, 25-20, 25-23 to Villanova on Wednesday.
“We lost in three but we put up a good fight,” said Rams coach Dan Terry, happy to see his team challenge the Wildcats after giving up large early leads.
Addison Mayfield recorded a team-high five kills with four digs and sophomore Emma Birrell collected four kills and three digs. Senior Grace Williams posted four solo blocks.
Cate is now 1-1 in match play and has also seen action at the Laguna Blanca Tournament and the Carpinteria Tournament. The Rams begin a string of three-straight road matches on Saturday at Santa Clara.
