Alexandria Peretiako fired a 49 Wednesday at Santa Barbara Golf Club but the San Marcos girls golf team couldn’t keep up with visiting Arroyo Grande in its opener, losing 268-308.
“This was our first match of the season and we came in about 10-15 strokes higher than our recent practice rounds,” said coach Shawn Ricci. “Alexandria continues to post scores under 50 and shows both a dedicated and determined attitude that is crucial for golf.”
Congratulations also went out to Carley Russell and Ciera Benavidez, who played their first-ever golf match and kept their scores in the 60s despite only a couple of weeks of practice. Arroyo Grande’s Karissa Matimoe earned medalist honors with a round of 48.
