San Marcos’ score of 265 was not enough to oust Oxnard’s score of 241 on the par 35 River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard.
“It is a great feeling to watch the daily improvement of our team,” Royals coach Shawn Ricci conveyed after the duel between the two schools.
Every member on the San Marcos golf team improved their scores by 3-5 strokes.
The Royals were led by junior Alexandria Peretiako who shot a team low 43, while the low score of the round was shot by Katie Rice of Oxnard with a 2-over-par 37.
“I am very proud of the entire team and I hope the wind in our sails continues to blow in the coming weeks,” Ricci expressed.
San Marcos improved its total round score by almost 40 strokes from last week and looks to improve once again when it faces Santa Ynez at Santa Barbara Golf Club on Monday.
