Jackie Harvey pounded out 17 kills and Anna Dwyer set the tone with five aces in the first game, taking the Laguna Blanca girls volleyball team to a 25-10, 25-21, 23-25, 25-18 non-league victory on the eve of its own tournament.
Saturday’s Laguna Blanca Tournament, hosted by the Owls at the Page Youth Center, will be attended by several local schools, including Carpinteria, Cate and Bishop Diego. Pool play begins at 8:30 a.m.
Dwyer finished the match with six aces total, but got the Owls going with five early ones.
“She came in in the second rotation and went back and served for eight straight points,” recalled Laguna head coach Jim Alzina, saying he could see his team relax after that.
Jessie Ditmore was big up front, knocking down seven kills and five blocks for the 2-0 Owls.
