Steve Geremia used a small army against Ventura on Tuesday, finding matchtime for 19 players in a 11-7 Channel League victory.
Taryn Mjelde took two sets in singles without a loss, as did all three starting doubles teams. Grace Flintermann and Laurie Spatz each won the only set they played in singles.
Geremia called Mjelde’s set against Ventura’s Allison Meyer as the match of the day. Mjelde, having never led, caught Meyer at 5-5 and went on to win 7-5.
Of Flintermann, he said, “we expected her to have a good day and she did. She’s a great competitor and a great player.”
The Dons, ranked No. 2 in Div. II, improve to 5-1-1, 3-0 in league. Santa Barbara travels to Palos Verdes on Wednesday.
