Four Gauchos scored double-digit kill totals as the UCSB women’s volleyball team beat the University of Idaho, 3-1 (25-22, 21-15, 25-16, 25-21), in its final match of the Mission Inn of Pismo Beach Invitational Saturday afternoon at Mott Gym in San Luis Obispo.
For the Gauchos (8-2), Rebecca Saraceno led the team in kills with 14, followed closely by Leah Sully and Lily Lopez who contributed 12 apiece. Olivia Ruff added ten kills in only 18 attempts for a team-high .444 hitting percentage. Setter Dana Vargas dished out 50 assists on the night, while libero Chelsey Lowe worked for a match-high 23 digs.
Alicia Milo paced the Vandals (4-6) with ten kills on 28 attempts. Sarah Conwell had seven kills while Cassie Hamilton and Anna McKinney added five apiece. The Vandals only hit .134 as a squad on the afternoon. Jennifer Feicht and Katie Tribley tallied 17 and 13 assists, respectively.
UCSB has now won seven of its last eight matches. The Gauchos were out-blocked by the Vandals, 11-5.
The Gauchos return home this Tuesday to face a lion of an opponent, Loyal Marymount, at 7 pm at the Thunderdome.
