Flu-ridden Warriors fall to Oaks Christian

Community West BankIt started off well for Carpiteria’s girls volleyball team on Tuesday, but struggles with passing in serve receive and some under-the-weather players led to a 25-14, 25-16, 25-15 home loss to visiting Oaks Christian in the Warriors’ Tri-Valley League debut.

Right-side hitter Meghan McMahon tallied nine digs with six kills and a solo block while junior Shelby Dunlap stepped in and got her first start at liber, notching 11 digs.

“I’ve got four girls out sick right now. We started off well but they had one server that we just couldn’t seem to pass,” said coach Katie Dolge. “I think we could have passed better, but we weren’t there mentally.”

The Warriors (1-3, 0-1) hope to be healthy for Thursday night’s match against another tough league foe, La Reina.
