DP tennis opens league play with win over Cougars

Despite the lopsided final score of 16-2, Dos Pueblos girls tennis coach Suzy Dahl said that the Chargers’ Channel League-opening win over Ventura was very competitive.

“The scores on all courts were very close and the match could have gone another way, but we focused and fought for the big points and won them,” she said.

Katie O’Brien and Rachel Amspoker pulled off the final win of the day in a tiebreaker doubles set over the Cougars’ top team while Chloe Warinner went 3-0 in singles play.

“We were really impressed with how strong their team was, and it was good to hear compliments from parents on the other team saying that our girls were nice and honest,” said Dahl.

the Chargers are now 4-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.
