Both Santa Ynez and Dos Pueblos went way low on Wednesday, as the Chargers’ girls golf team pulled out a 192-197 victory at par-35 Glen Annie Golf Course. DP’s Nicole Bullemer and Santa Ynez’s Sarah Sanger each shot one-under 34 to share medalist honors.
“We definitely have the talent to do it,” said DP coach Rob Schiff about his team shooting such a low score so early in the season.
“It was a pretty good scoring day today with light winds.”
Bullemer was two-under par until a bogey on the ninth hole. The Chargers had a sizable lead at the time, not knowing that Sanger — who was in the last group — had such a strong round going. She was four-under at one point.
“It was a lot of fun… A good, solid high school match,” said Schiff.
The Chargers (4-0) begin Channel League play Tuesday at Ventura.
