Dons don’t miss a step without Rottman

The Santa Barbara girls volleyball team breezed to a 25-11, 25-188, 25-21 non-league victory over visiting Thousand Oaks on Thursday, even without the services of kills leader Emily Rottman.

No big deal for the Dons, who have another Rottman at their disposal. Emily’s younger sister Dani, a sophomore, was inserted into the starting lineup and came through with nine kills on 12 attempts.

“She was excellent,” praised Dons head coach John Gannon.  “She didn’t get blocked, didn’t hit out and she passed exeptionally well.”

Eve Ettinger was her usual formidable self, recording 15 kills.

Santa Barbara, now 4-0, travels north on Friday to play in the Archbishop Mitty Tournament where the Dons placed second last year.
