Kelly Deckers poured in five goals Tuesday night and Margot Valenzuela added three, leading SBCC to a 10-0 women’s soccer rout of Hancock in the WSC opener at La Playa Stadium.
Deckers, a freshman from Valencia High, had three goals in the first half as the Vaqueros built a 6-0 lead. Mikaela Cox had a goal and two assists, Renee Block had a goal and one assist and Casey Rubin added a pair of assists for the 11th-ranked Vaqueros (6-1-3, 1-0-0).
Deckers is tied for the state scoring lead with 28 points (12 goals, 4 assists).
“The girls knocked the ball around really well,” said coach John Sisterson. “Hancock didn’t have a team last year, so they’re an all-freshman group. We got all our players in and that was good.”
