The Dos Pueblos water polo team barely broke a sweat on Thursday, winning two matches in dominating fashion to start off the Riverside Poly Tournament.
The Chargers started off with a 15-5 defeat of Chaparral followed by an 18-8 throttling of Martin Luther King at its own pool.
Jared Rassler got the Chargers going in the first half of the first game, scoring five goals off the bench. Rassler is from San Diego, a transfer from Scripps Ranch who Parrish said has the potential to break into the starting lineup at some point this season.
In each game, DP raced out to sizable leads before halftime, allowing for Chris Parrish to empty his bench and rest his starters.
“That’s how these tourneys play out, if you play your starters every minute, you’ll be worn out by the final day,” said Parrish, thankful to give his guys some rest. “Today was a freebie.”
It gets more difficult on Friday for the Chargers, who draw Murrietta Valley in an afternoon match at MLK High.
