The Dos Pueblos girls tennis team upped its record to 3-1 on Thursday, riding the strength of an undefeated doubles side to a 14-4 non-league win over visiting Laguna Blanca.
Katie O’Brien teamed with Rachel Amspoker for three successful sets, and Hanna Schmitz and Oriane Matthys also swept three sets together.
Laguna Blanca’s Liza Fletcher and Arabella Waters each took two sets in singles and caused problems for the Chargers, who were playing without Channel League singles champion Lauren Stratman.
The No. 2 singles spot still had the hot hand for the Chargers, with Chloe Warinner sweeping two sets at love before Miya McHugh took over and won a set in the final round.
This was the Chargers’ final warmup before Channel League play begins this Tuesday against Ventura. The Owls, 18-0 winners over Bishop Diego in their first match, are now 1-1 and face Orcutt Academy on Saturday.
