While the NFL regular season is still over a week away thanks to a late Labor Day, three local football teams begin their seasons in earnest this weekend.
Tri-Valley League teams Carpinteria and Bishop Diego will both be playing Week Zero games. For the Warriors, Ben Hallock makes his return to the sidelines as head coach as they host Santa Ynez at 7:30 p.m. The Warriors defeated the Pirates last season in Week Zero 7-0.
Bishop is traveling to East L.A. to take on Salesian, which went 1-9 last season. The Cardinals’ first home contest isn’t until Oct. 9.
