MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – No. 9 UCSB (5-1-1) battled to a 1-1 draw with Wisconsin (2-2-2) on Sunday morning in its final game of the 36th Annual Panther Invitational at Milwaukee-Wisconsin’s Engelmann Field.
The two teams battled through 81 scoreless minutes before Wisconsin’s Brandon Miller got the Badgers on the scoreboard. Playing close to the goal on a corner kick, Miller converted the rebound of a header attempt by Taylor Waspi that was saved by UCSB keeper Sam Hayden. Waspi and Scott Lorenz, who had the initial serve on the attempt from the corner, were credited with assists.
With the clock quickly winding down on the second half, Danny Barrera found the back of the net with just three and a half minutes to play. Barrera took a through ball and drilled a shot from 10 yards out to the far post for the equalizer. Luis Silva and Christian Dahlskog were credited with the assists. The goal is Barrera’s second of the season and doubles his total from the 2008 season.

Freshman Christian Ramirez looked to give the Gauchos the win just 45 seconds later, but his shot was saved by Badger goalie Alex Horwath. Sophomore Michael Tetteh also got a shot off in the waning minutes of regulation play, but the shot was wide and the two teams remained deadlocked at 1-1.
The Gauchos out-shot the Badgers 6-1 between the two overtime periods, but failed to add a second goal as they settled for the 1-1 tie.

For the game, UCSB out-shot Wisconsin 22-7, including a 9-2 edge for the Gauchos in shots-on-goal. UCSB’s 22 shots are a season-high.
In goal, Hayden made one stop and Wisconsin’s Horwath had eight saves.
Michael Tetteh led the Gauchos with six shots during the game with one on-frame. Barrera had four shots, three on-goal. Ramirez also had an early career-high of four shots.
UCSB will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the Mexican U-17 National Team in an exhibition at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
