San Marcos’ Lise Anderson earned medalist honors with a round of 42, but Santa Barbara High edged the Royals 231-269 Tuesday in a Channel League girls golf win at par-36 Santa Barbara Golf Club.
Sarah Kirkwood and Olivia Fanaro each shot 43 for the Dons.
“It is always a pleasure to host Santa Barbara,” said coach Shawn Ricci. “Both the coaches and the players embody the sportsmanship and class that characterizes the game of golf.”
The Dons were the most consistent team, as all five of their qualifying scores were under 50.
“They have a balanced team in the sense that on any given day, any of their girls can be medalist,” said Ricci.
The Royals are still looking for their first win and will get another shot against Buena on Thursday. The Dons, meanwhile, are off to an impressive 7-1 start to the season, play Dos Pueblos at Glen Annie Golf Course on Thursday.
