The CBVA’s Santa Barbara Tuesdays youth volleyball series attracted a season-best 60 teams this week, as local high-schoolers and soon-to-be high schoolers crowded the East Beach courts in the largest numbers so far this summer.
On the girls side, the Rottman family couldn’t be stopped. Emily, Dani and Alexis each won with different partners in their respective age groups. Emily and Dani teamed up with another set of sisters in the girls 18s and the 16s. Emily Rottman and Sammie Brown defeated the all-Dos Pueblos combo of Katie Spieler and Carly Wopat in the 18s. Dani Rottman and Nicki Brown — like Emily and Sammie, a SBHS-DP mix — brought down Amber Hawthorne and Alyssa Walton in the 16s and are winners in two consecutive weeks together.
The girls 16 and 18 brackets were the largest of the event.
In the girls 14s, Sevana Dvorak won for the second week in a row, this time with a different partner in Lindsay Jacobs.

Santa Barbaran Holden Ploch teamed with Arroyo Grande’s Gavin Trudeau to take the boys 16s with a finals triumph over Jacob Delson and Bradley Sakaida. Hart Pitcher and Joe Rafferty topped the 14s with Tristan Fauntleroy-Carl Mendoza coming in second. And it was Jake De La Garza and Ryan Blaich in the 12s.
