Santa Barbara’s Mark Moreno and Eric Forte went 1-2 in Nite Moves’ 5k run on Wednesday, each beating the 16-minute marker.
Moreno’s time of 15 minutes and 33 seconds was the fastest time of the Nite Moves season, in its 14th week out of 20. The previous low was Kevin Lunn’s 15:45 on May 27.
Mason Edwards, 23, held off Jim West, 54, in the open-water swim to take the top spot in 14:24. Rick Hayes and Grant Schroeder also eclipsed 15 minutes, some 30 seconds behind the leaders.

Chris Arntz maintained his grip on the aquathon field, winning the swim-run combo event for the fifth straight week. Arntz’s time of 37:22 beat out challengers Jon Martin (39:21), Ben Leinfelder (39:26) and David Larson (40:05).
