Dos Pueblos sprinter/hurdler Steven Scarvelis signed to run for the UC Davis Aggies this past week in a ceremony out at the high school. The school record-holder in the 300 hurdles (38.53) and anchor for the record-holding 4×100 and 4×400 relay squads is the second track athlete in as many years to join the Aggies, following Santa Barbara High’s Krista Drechsler, who recently wrapped up a strong freshman season at Davis.
The versatile Eagle Scout should be a valuable asset to the program, having excelled in everything from the 100 hurdles (14.9) to the 800 (1:58.2) — even posting a score of 5,404 in the decathlon during his junior year.
