Local teenage surfers Conner Coffin, Parker Coffin and Lakey Peterson are all threatening to take down NSSA National Titles today at the NSSA National Championships being held at Lower Trestles in San Clemente.
Peterson advanced through Saturday morning’s women’s semifinal to reach this afternoon’s final, where she will joust with Courtney Conlogue, Malia Manuel and Nage Melamed. She also has reached the explorer girls final. Peterson, 14, is seeking her first NSSA national championship, one of amateur surfing’s highest crowns.
Conner Coffin, 15, already has a national championship under his belt from 2006, and is on the brink to win another, in the semifinals in the open men’s and already in the finals for the open juniors.
The surfers won’t officially know the results until Sunday night at the NSSA season-ending banquet at the Huntington Beach Hyatt.
