The San Marcos boys tennis team faced a tough draw in the first round of the CIF playoffs on Thursday and it showed, as the No. 2-overall seed Thousand Oaks controlled the visiting Royals 16-2.
“I haven’t seen such depth in singles, they have just three workhorses,” said head coach Jarrod Bradley
Namely the Stanford bound Dennis Lin and the Washington bound Kyle McMorrow, both nationally ranked junior players.
The doubles teams of Scott Messier-Jackson Mann and Parker Funk-Jackson Foster each won a set for the Royals on the doubles side.
San Marcos finishes its season with an 8-10 record and will return its entire team minus senior captain Sean-Michael Gaudefroy
Bradley said he was sad to lose such “an overall good kid” but was excited to see him move on to bigger and better things next year.
Thousand Oaks advances to the second round with a 17-1 record.
