The Cate girls lacrosse team settled for second place in CIF Division I, losing out to Los Alamitos ina 17-11 final played at Mira Costa on Friday night.
Cate’s Cascade Zak recorded six goals and won 10 draws. Tori Thompson tallied three goals and Maddie Firestone and Steph Ruys de Perez found the back of the net once each.
Sophomore goalie Alexx Temena stopped 13 shots from the Griffins, who held the No. 1 ranking all season long.
Cate’s record will enter the books at 16-4-1 for the 2009 season, 6-0 in the Condor League.
