Parrish beats out Williams at CIF finals

Santa Barbara’s Lindsay Parrish beat out Dos Pueblos’ Emily Rose-Williams by a third of a second in the 50-meter freestyle, good for 3rd place at the CIF Finals meet at Mt. SAC on Friday night.

Parrish’s time was 23.66 seconds while Rose-Williams’ mark of 23.97 was 6th-best in the tight race. Parrish’s swim just missed the Dons school record but she successfully broke her season-best time in the 100 butterfly, coming in sixth with a time of 55.37.

Lolo Blair notched two top-ten finishes. She was fourth best in the 200 free and sixth best in the 100 backstroke. Blair and Parrish were the common thread in the Dons’ two top-nine relay times for the medley relay and 200 free.

The Dos Pueblos team of Williams, Sami Hill, Michelle Dockendorf and Rayanne Nyugen did one place better than the Dons in the 200 medley in 1:48.56.

Dockendorf competed in two more individual events for the Chargers, taking home a 12th in the 100 breaststroke and 13th in the 200 IM.

Santa Barbara’s Karl Boscacci swam to a sixth in the 500 free in 4:34.7 and senior Jeff Churchman took 11th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.19. The pair teamed on the medley and 400 free relay teams, with Churchman swimming the sixth-fastest leadoff time in school history to start the 400. The Dons boys had three relay teams get top-13 marks, including a 10th in the 400 (3:12.82).

Brandon Cowan, Sam Foley, Ian Gamble and Hunter Ploch were 13th in CIF for the 200 freestyle relay and Churchman, Foley, Bosacci and Gamble were responsible for the 10th place.
