Santa Barbara’s Chase Melton and Dos Pueblos’ Sasha Gryaznov will be meeting in the Channel League boys tennis singles finals on Friday, having agreed to reschedule the match because of the Jesusita Fire.
The top-seeded Melton defeated teammate Jimmy Vaughan 6-3, 6-1 with a complete performance in the day’s one and only semifinal. Billy Grokenberger defaulted the other semifinal to Gryaznov, the No. 2 seed, due to sickness.
The final, which was supposed to be played at the Pierpont Inn in Ventura following the semis, has been moved to Cathedral Oaks Athletic Club on Friday at 3 p.m.
The Channel League Doubles Championships begin on Wednesday at Buena.
