Freshman pitcher Hannah Harris tossed a gem for Dos Pueblos and Shelli Sibbert was 3-for-4 with three runs scored as the Chargers picked up a 9-1 win at Ventura Tuesday, clinching second place in the Channel League.
The Cougars’ only run came on an error in the seventh, meaning that Harris has now pitched 21 straight innings against Ventura (12-13, 6-5) without giving up and earned run. She struck out seven on the day and also went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs at the plate. Coach Donn Roberts said that besides the late error, DP played excellent defense on the day.
The Chargers (13-13, 7-4), now on a four-game winning streak, host Santa Barbara Thursday. CIF brackets will be released on Monday.
