Jade Fitzgerald swam the 50 freestyle in 25.56 seconds Friday, earning the first CIF consideration time standard for a San Marcos swimmer in a decade.
The 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams also earned CIF consideration times for the Royals girls, with the 200 squad clocking in at 1:43.76. The team consists of Fitzgerald, Zoe Kirker, Parinda Sukavivatanachai and Brittny Hummel.
Shannon Orr took second place in the 100 breaststroke with a personal best of 1:17.64. Coach Brian Roth said that Orr’s progression in the event has been especially impressive due to nagging shoulder injuries that have kept her from training for anything but the breaststroke.
On the boys side, Kristian Sloan picked up his best time in the 200 free with a 2:11.18 while Sam Boysel was second in the 100 free with a mark of 53.64 seconds. Abhi Frandsen took 13 seconds off of his 500 free time with a 6:15.81 and Georgy Khvhichiya won the 100 backstroke with a personal best of 1:08.28.
Ventura prevailed in the girls meet 119-68 and in the boys meet 129-49.
