Dons crowd Channel League semifinals

There were no surprises on the first day of the boys tennis Channel League Championships on Monday as all top-four seeds won two matches to reach Tuesday’s semifinals.

Santa Barbara stocked three of the four spots, with top-seeded Chase Melton facing teammate Jimmy Vaughan in one semi and Bill Grokenberger taking on Dos Pueblos’ Sasha Gryaznov.

None came close to losing a set and Gryaznov didn’t drop a single game.

San Marcos’ Travis Enholm and Sean-Michael Gaudefroy each won first-round matches in straight sets but lost to Don counterparts in the quarters.
