Even if top singles player Sasha Gryaznov had played, Dos Pueblos still might not have had enough in a 15-3 first-round CIF loss at Calabasas on Thursday.
The Chargers doubles team of Andy Silverstein and Eric Katz gave Calabasas fits and won two-of-three sets and the duo of Malcolm Sutton-Peter Shao took the other DP set.
Several close sets didn’t go the Chargers’ way, example being Calabasas’ William Sokurski taking two sets at 7-5 from Richard Cheng and Jake Roberts. Also, Sutton and Shao were a tiebreaker away from going 2-0 on the day.
The Chargers wrap up their season with a 13-5 record and a second-place finish in the Channel League.
