Warriors stretch it to ninth for naught

Hueneme and Carpinteria stretched out to nine innings on Tuesday, ending 7-6 after a Vikings walk-off home run in the non-league matchup.

Myriah Diaz and Coco Crowfoot went 3-for-5 at the plate and Nicole Pearce blasted a three-run homer in the fifth inning that gave the Warriors a brief 6-4 lead.

Hueneme answered with two in the bottom half the inning to make it 6-6 where it would stay until the ninth.

Freshman Carmen Campi played her first varsity game for Carpinteria, recording 10 putouts from third base.

The loss knocks the Warriors to 5-6 on the year, 1-1 in the Frontier League. Santa Paula is next on the schedule on Thursday before league play resumes next Tuesday with Bishop Diego.
