John Warren’s parents came all the way from Saudi Arabia for Cate’s Parents Weekend, and it was sure worth the airfare.
Their son, John, struck out 14 batters en route to a no-hitter in the Rams’ 10-0 mercy-rule win over Thacher, improving Cate’s record to 8-0 and 5-1 in the Condor League. The rival Toads are no pushovers, having lost only one other league game this season.
Warren also went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
“He was spotting his pitches and throwing really well… Overall, it was just a great day,” said coach Ben Soto.
Michael Moya, Drew Redmond and Nate Vice also each added a pair of hits for Cate, which plays at Dunn on Wednesday.
