Robert Vickers had a monster day Wednesday, hitting two grand slams and tallying nine RBIs as the Dos Pueblos baseball team beat Foothill of Palo Cedro 10-2 and Mission Prep 14-4 to reach the semifinals of the San Luis Obispo Tournament.
While Vickers handled most of the offense, closer Ryan Ventura made his first start in the opening game and went all seven innings, giving up just a pair of runs on seven hits.
“It’s amazing because he’s our closer. He had control the whole game, and we made plays defensively which was nice,” said DP coach Nate Mendoza.
Steven Reveles went 4-for-6 at the plate with five runs scored on the day. DP (7-8) plays Alemany in the semifinals Thursday.
