Vickers, DP finish a strong third in SLO tourney

Steven Reveles went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored as the Dos Pueblos baseball team finished the San Luis Obispo Tournament in third place with a 9-7 win over San Ramon Valley on Friday. Corey Micheel knocked in the winning runs with a two-RBI single in the fourth.

In all, the tournament was just what Dos Pueblos needed before heading into the second half of the Channel League season — a wake-up call for the bats.

“I thought that this tournament was a stepping stone for us to improve offensively, and we accomplished that so hopefully we can carry it over,” said coach Nate Mendoza.

Nate Hart had an RBI double and scored twice for the Chargers, and Robert Vickers went 1-for-3 with an RBU single, a wak and two-runs scored.

The CSU Northridge-bound shortstop’s numbers were off the charts over the four-game tourney. He hit for a .625 average with and on-base percentage of .733 and a jaw-dropping slugging clip of 1.380. He hit two grand slams, walked six times and scored eight runs. He also didn’t make a single error in the field.
