Robert Thornton hit a two-run single in the top of the seventh to lift the Carpinteria baseball team to a 5-3 win at Fillmore on Friday, the Warriors’ first Tri-Valley League road win.
Kyle Geary picked up the win and improved to 4-2, going the distance and giving up just three hits while striking out eight. Tony Sanchez and Isacc Cervantes hit back-to-back run-scoring doubles early on and Steve Blum brought in a run on a sacrifice fly in the third.
Next up for the Warriors (10-4, 3-1) is a big rivalry game against Bishop on Tuesday. Fillmore is now 4-10 overall and 0-6 in the TVL.
