Bishop Diego’s A.J. Fling did all he could in the field and at the plate, but Righetti overcame the Cardinals senior to take the 6-1 decision in the first round of the Righetti Tournament.
Fling pitched into the seventh inning and went 2-for-4 at the plate, knocking in the Cardinals’ lone run. Fling recorded a double and a single and scored catcher Joe Salda with his base hit in the second inning.
The Cardinals (2-11) return to Santa Maria for Wednesday’s matchup with Rodriguez.
