Bishop Diego’s track team traveled to Malibu to compete in the first of three frontier league meets on Thursday, with the Cardinal girls taking first and the boys fourth.
The girls were led by freshman standout Nicole Poindexter, who won the 100, 200 and long lump, posting a personal best of 28.55 in the 200.
Poindexter also teamed up with Melissa Georgi, Veronica Manzo, and Cynthia Trejo to win the 4 X 100 relay. Freshmen Christie Delgadillo offered significant contributions in the longer distances by winning the 3200 in a time of 13:26, while also placing second in the mile and third in the 800.
The girls scored well in the field as well, as senior Elisa Munoz won the discus event throwing a personal best of 80’07”. “It was a great team win, our girls showed a lot of heart, and have much to be proud of,” said coach Dan Peeters.
The boys were led by Junior Connor Bortolazzo, who jumped a personal best of 19’4″ in the long jump. The second Frontier League meet will be at Malibu on April 23rd.
