The gym lights went out for 15 minutes during the fourth set on Thursday night at Hueneme High School, and with them went Cate’s momentum in a 25-22, 23-25, 17-25, 25-17, 15-9 boys volleyball loss.
Joe Gottwald had a monster night statistically for the Rams, putting away 28 kills to go along with 27 digs and four aces. Isaac Thompson had 42 assists with two aces and Rey Canseco had 18 digs.
Despite losing the first set, the Rams rallied and battled back from a 9-18 deficit to make it close.
“It was a very close match and a great improvement from our last meeting, where we lost in a quick three games to them,” said coach Dan Terry.
