Jennifer Jimenez knocked in five runs on three doubles Wednesday as the Bishop Diego softball team picked up a mercy-rule win over visiting Cate, 13-3.
Jimenez, Bishop’s starting pitcher, combined with Annette Gonzales on a one-hitter in the contest, and freshman Diana Sleep went 3-for-3 with four runs scored.The Cardinals are off to a 4-8 start with an 0-2 mark in the tough Frontier League.
“We’ve got a young team and we’re looking to improve by re-positioning some players to shore up our defense,” said coach Tom Beamer.
Bishop plays San Marcos on Wednesday.
