Hueneme had just a little more firepower than the Carpinteria girls softball team on Tuesday, putting together three big innings en route to a 16-8 victory over the Warriors.
Nicole Pearce put the Warriors out front in the first inning with a three-run home run but Hueneme responded with four of its own in the bottom half of the first. Hueneme then added six in the fourth and five in the sixth.
Carpinteria put up three more in the fifth. Katrina Haeringer knocked a two-out double and scored on a Sierra Freeman base hit. Roxanne Hugo followed with a two-run homer.
The Warriors play again on Wednesday against Oxnard.
