Santa Barbara’s Mary Ann Giles topped off a fine day at the plate with a game-winning double that scored Monique Medina in a 10-9 victory over Santa Ynez on Tuesday.
The Pirates had just rallied with three runs in the top half of the inning to tie the game at 9-9 after the Dons had turned a 6-4 deficit into a 9-6 lead the inning before.
Giles went 4-for-5 with 3 doubles and the game-winning RBI. Rachel Hunter posted three hits with an RBI. Sarah Leads hit a home run and totaled three RBIs.
The Dons, who improve to 5-7 overall, out-hit the Pirates 18-10.
