San Marcos’ John Etsell was sub-par in a good way on Tuesday in a 373-399 non-league victory over Nipomo, carding a one-under 71 at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.
“Today was a huge day for us,” said Royals head coach Dave Siordia. “Seeing as Cypress Ridge is a CIF course and for us to play well on it. That’s huge for my kids.”
Scott Bradford fired an even-par round and Dodge Ward was next with a 75. Thayer White’s 76 and Kyle Rieb’s 79 filled out the Royals’ score.
The win takes San Marcos to 5-7 overall while its league record maintains at 3-2.
